Radhashtami: Significance and How to Celebrate

5 min read · Updated 2026-07-16

A fortnight after the world celebrates Krishna's birth on Janmashtami comes a day dearer still to the devotees of Vraja — Radhashtami, the appearance day of Radha Rani, without whom, they say, there is no sweetness in Krishna at all.

The meaning of Radhashtami

Radhashtami marks the divine appearance of Radha in Barsana. For the Radha-centred traditions it is among the greatest festivals of the year, honouring the one who is devotion personified and the very heart of Krishna.
